This is bright, with tension and hold throughout the palate. It’s lacking some of the brightness and generosity to the fruit texture that you’d find here in a usual year. This wine really tells of the challenges faced by the Right Bank during the vintage. It has a gorgeous balance and bounce, and – as ever – Thierry Valette has managed to give a focused tension to the blueberry and blackcurrant fruits. Just 19hl/h due to frost, aged in 15% new oak, spread across Bordeaux and Burgundy barrels, and oak casks. This should provide great drinkability over the next 5 to 15 years.
