0.6 hectare situé sur le plateau, dans le secteur de Haut-Tropchaud. Très belle définition de bouche, fruit expressif. Un tout petit cru qui mérite le détour.

Fraîcheur, beau parfum de fruits noirs et rouges frais, attaque très suave, tannin doux, longueur insinuante, pas tout à fait aussi profond qu’attendu mais grand charme rond.

The 2016 Chateau Saint-Pierre, here the Pomerol estate and not the one in Saint Julien, had a rather dusty nose that strangely lacked fruit expression. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, light and simple with an attenuated finish. I was hoping for better.

Character and style with soft tannins and a rich, dark, red, fruity finish. The wine is medium bodied and earthy — hearty black cherry, licorice and hints of truffle notes abound.

One of the real surprises of 2016, the Saint-Pierre is fabulous. Rich, ample and vibrant on the palate, it pulses with energy and class. Plum, violet, graphite, smoke and dark spice are front and center. Saint-Pierre is a gorgeous wine of real pedigree. The 2016 is 100% Merlot, done with a dollop (10 percent) of whole clusters, fermented in tank and aged in oak, with about 50% new barrels. The introduction of a second wine starting in 2014 has elevated quality in a meaningful way. Frédéric Massie and Romain Bocchio consult.

A firm and silky red with licorice, stone and spice character. Medium body and silky tannins. Love the tightness to this.
