One of the real surprises of 2016, the Saint-Pierre is fabulous. Rich, ample and vibrant on the palate, it pulses with energy and class. Plum, violet, graphite, smoke and dark spice are front and center. Saint-Pierre is a gorgeous wine of real pedigree. The 2016 is 100% Merlot, done with a dollop (10 percent) of whole clusters, fermented in tank and aged in oak, with about 50% new barrels. The introduction of a second wine starting in 2014 has elevated quality in a meaningful way. Frédéric Massie and Romain Bocchio consult.
