A strong effort from Leoville Las-Cases’ winemaking team, the powerful 2005 Nenin (14.2% alcohol) was created from a blend of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. Only 41% of the production was used. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by sweet cranberry, black cherry, and cassis fruit, impressive intensity, full body, low acidity, ripe tannin, and plenty of power and length. Although somewhat monolithic, it should develop additional nuances with 3-4 years of bottle age. It will last for two decades.
