The 2015 Grand Pontet has a more opulent bouquet than some of its peers, although I found more control and definition here. The palate is medium-bodied with a sprinkle of dark chocolate on the entry, although here it does not occlude the terroir, and the fineness of the tannins can be seen underneath. It is a bold Saint Émilion, but it does not push everything too far.

The 2015 Grand-Pontet is a decidedly ripe, extracted Saint-Émilion with huge, searing tannins and considerable ripeness. Bittersweet chocolate, spice, black cherry, violet and menthol all meld together. The 2015 is intense and deep, but also quite tannic. If the 2015 settles down during its aging, it may come in closer to the top end of my projected range. Today all the elements aren't completely put together.

Une fois encore c'est la qualité de son toucher qui distingue ce vin au nez fin, pur, fruité, mûr et épicé. Bouche complète, fondante, élancée avec beaucoup de goût, de la nuance dans la texture et des tannins fins. C'est long et très bon. Dans la lignée de 2010 et 2009.

Dunkles Granat, recht satt in der Mitte, rubiner Rand. Sanft trockenes Fruchtbouquet, wenig hergebend. Im Gaumen geht es recht trocken weiter, die Substanz ist aber gut, auch wenn daraus wohl nie ein Charmebolzen wird. Also Ess-Saint-Emilion. 17/20 2024 – 2038

Fascinating character of walnut, dried fruits, dark chocolate and spices. Bitter oranges too. Full body, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Very energetic young red.
