The Merlot-dominated 2016 By Clinet (there's 5% Cabernet Franc) is a charming, already delicious effort that gives up elegant notes of chocolate-laced plums and dark fruits, notes of leafy herbs and truffle, medium to full body, and a layered, charming mouthfeel. It's a terrific Pomerol to drink over the coming 7-8 years or so.

The 2016 By Clinet was previously called "Fleur de Clinet" and it should be noted that this is not a second wine, but comes from fruit sourced from Ronan Laborde's Pomerol neighbors. It has quite a high-toned, maybe even glossy bouquet of blueberry and black cherry fruit. The palate is rounded on the entry with fine acidity, a soft texture and good volume toward the lightly spiced finish. Not long-term, so enjoy this over the next three years.
