The 2016 Bel-Air "Jean & Gabriel" is an approximately 50/50 blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. It has quite an opulent bouquet with blueberry and black cherry fruit, touches of incense and iris developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly tarry black fruit, a keen line of acidity, quite fresh in the mouth with a spicy, tobacco and bell pepper-tinged finish. This is probably the best Jean & Gabriel produced so far.

The 2016 Bel-Air Cuvée Jean & Gabriel, a blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc, is sweet, ripe and unctuous, with generous fruit and an open-knit, inviting personality that is sure to make it a crowd-pleaser. Very old Cabernet Franc and Merlot vines.Fresh and sweet and gentle with amazing concentration for the appellation. Dry finish but real energy and dynamism. Hint of liquorice. This seems to be an exciting year for the St-Émilion satellites.16.5+
