Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 les Grands Chênes reveals beautifully pure, well-defined notes of red and black currants, black raspberries and bay leaves, with touches of cinnamon stick and tree bark. The medium-bodied palate has finely grained, skillfully managed tannins and lovely freshness backing up the crunchy red and black fruit flavors, finishing with a skip in its step.

The 2020 Les Grands Chênes is absolutely gorgeous. Deep, layered and full of flavor, the 2020 is knockout from Bernard Magrez. Succulent dark cherry, leather, cedar, tobacco, spice and licorice all run through this wonderfully expressive Médoc. Fine but persistent tannins give energy.

The 2020 Les Grands Chênes is surprisingly backward on the nose, opening gradually to reveal a mixture of blackberry and raspberry fruit; hints of licorice develop with aeration. The oak is nicely integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins that frame the crisp black fruit. There is that soupçon of licorice once again, and a light and enjoyable menthol note on the finish. Give this 3–4 years in bottle if you can.

Inky in colour with a firm structure, really standing to attention with the tingle of chewy muscular tannins at the close of play. You're getting well-ripened blackberry and blackcurrant fruits in this, laden with liquorice, cocoa bean and smoke. September 15 to October 1 for the harvest.

Saftig, reife Herzkirschen, frisch strukturiert, reife Tannine, zitronig-mineralisch im Nachhall, lebendiger Speisenbegleiter.
