Nice black cherry and blackberry fruits are present in this dense ruby/purple wine from winemaking consultant/guru Stéphane Derenoncourt. Quite fleshy, chunky, with lots of depth, ripe fruit and purity, this is a big, lovely, medium to full-bodied, fleshy, mouth-filling wine that represents excellent value. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

A Bordeaux displaying intense aromas and flavors of cooked strawberries and raspberries with floral and mineral notes. Hints of toasted oak. Full body with silky tannins, lovely acidity and an intense, textured finish. Drink in 2018.

Well built, with solid density for the vintage, this lets a core of dark plum sauce, steeped currant and blackberry coulis play out, while hints of charcoal, anise and smoldering tobacco line the fleshy finish. A solid effort. Drink now through 2018. 1,900 cases made.

Medium-deep ruby.  Sexy aromas of black fruits, cocoa, cinnamon and violet.  Broad and supple but with a light touch to its musky dark berry and plum flavors.  Sappy and energetic but at the same time almost creamy on the long finish.  A very strong showing for this wine in 2012; it's far above the quality level of many other wines from the Right Bank satellites in this vintage.

Stéphane Derenoncourt’s “baby”, the Domaine de l’A has a very pure, engaging bouquet with subtle floral notes that develop in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe tannins. The creamy oak is well integrated and politely remains in the background, lending the dark plum and cassis fruit the lift it needs. Class winemaking here in a challenging vintage. Tasted April 2013.

The bright, lively cherry and raspberry fruit is laced with bergamot notes and flashes of rooibos tea. Shows lively acidity, with a pure finish. —J.M.

Low yields of 27 hectoliters per hectare produced a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc from Stephane Derenoncourt’s home property, which includes south-facing hillside vineyards in the sector of Castillon known as Ste.-Colombe. This 2012 hit the scales at 13.5% natural alcohol. It exhibits lots of heady black cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with licorice, graphite, cedar wood and damp earth/underbrush notes. An opulent, fleshy, medium-bodied wine with soft tannins as well as a layered, persistent finish, it should drink well for 7-8 years.
Drink: 2013 - 2021

Owned by renowned consultant Stephane Derenoncourt and Christine Derenoncourt. Produced from a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the wine reached 13.5% alcohol and will be aged in 100% new French oak. Spicy red and dark fruits, coffee bean, and earthy notes are in the forefront. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, soft and delivers a mineral-driven, plummy finish. 88-90 Pts

Drink 2017-2023
Clear-cut cassis on the nose – very inviting. An initial hit of oak on the palate gives chocolate flavour and texture. Just the right amount of chew but maybe needs a little more fruit depth to fill out the structure, so the end is just slightly hard. (JH)
