Stéphane Derenoncourt has worked for five years with this estate to bring it to its potential. Lying just between Le Pin and Vieux Château Certan, there was no frost here. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Saint-Pierre (Pomerol leaps from the glass with the most gorgeous violets and lilacs perfume over a core of blackberry preserves and blueberry tart plus hints of Indian spices and licorice. The palate is medium to full-bodied with bags of rich, perfumed fruit, supported by velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Only 3,000 bottles were produced this year.
