A partir du 20 juin, beau temps ensoleillé et sec jusqu’à la fin de l’été : perte rapide de l’acidité et du caractère végétal, forte synthèse phénolique et aromatique
Juillet et août très secs et ensoleillés, fortes amplitudes thermiques : fraîcheur préservée, ralentissement de la maturation sous le stress hydrique
Pluies le 13 septembre : relance de la maturation, affinement des tanins des pellicules

The 2016 Lanessan has come together nicely during aging. Tobacco, menthol, dried cherry, licorice and subtle earthy notes flesh out in this supple, expressive Haut-Médoc. The tannins could use a bit of time to soften, but the 2016 has a lot to offer. I won't at all surprised if the 2016 blossoms into an even more complete wine. 89+

Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Lanessan offers cassis and plums on the nose with a core of cedar, earth and herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate is firm, grainy and lively with good expression.

The 2016 Lanessan has a perfumed, quite floral bouquet with graphite tinged black fruit—fine delineation with impressive focus, even if it is not the most complex Haut-Medoc that I encountered in this vintage out of barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannin, well-judged acidity, plenty of black fruit with a harmonous, engaging and slightly tarry finish. This is a great Lanessan that should give 20 years of pleasure. This comes highly recommended and I expect it will land at the top of my banded score once in bottle.

Made from a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc, this medium/full-bodied wine is full of luscious fruits with silky tannins, juicy cassis, plums and tobacco. The wine has richness, length and sweet fruits that make it the best vintage of Lanessan I have ever tasted.

The 2016 Lanessan is an attractive wine. A host of savory, earth-driven Cabernet Sauvignon overtones give the wine good aromatic nuance and complexity to play off the plump, generous, dark-fleshed fruit. Pliant and deep, the 2016 should drink well with minimal cellaring, especially if the tannins soften a bit.
