The 2015 Fayat has a composed bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, crushed rose petal and light earthy notes, backward at the moment but nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, good fruit intensity matched by a fine thread of acidity. I appreciate the freshness here, more than previous vintages, and there is a delicate touch of spice on the finish. One Pomerol to check out. Anticipated maturity: 2020 - 2032.

Frankly ripe, with plum and boysenberry compote flavors inlaid with an anise note, carried by some silky tannins and a flash of slightly woodsy vanilla on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2027. 2,917 cases made. –JM

Aromas of ripe fruit with decadent meat and leather undertones. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Intense and flavorful. Better in 2020.

The 2015 Château Fayat is pure Merlot cropped at 42 hectoliters per hectare between September 21 and October 7. It has a dark berry and blackcurrant pastille-scented bouquet, nicely defined, perhaps just a little static at the moment compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm, present tannins that lend this Pomerol weight. It might lack the finesse of others, although I detected grit and determination, a wine that really wants to excel in this vintage. At least there is satisfying freshness here and the mint-fresh finish leaves you with a good taste in your mouth. Let's see how this performs in bottle. Drink 2019-2032

The 2015 Fayat offers good immediacy and juiciness, with plenty of sweet red cherry, plum, spice and mint nuances. Deep, fleshy and open-knit, the 2015 is quite tasty, even if it is not super complex. It should be a good early drinker.

Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Das Bouquet zeigt einen schwarzpfeffrigen Touch, Cassis- und Holundernoten. Im Gaumen erst saftig, dann stoffig, eine gewisse pikante Note im satten Extrakt zeigend, wirkt etwas extrahiert. Er hat aber das Potential um die ziemlich massive Tortur zu überstehen. 17/20 2023 – 2038
