Wine Advocate 87-89 / 100 par Neal Martin le 02/05/2017 The 2016 Arômes de Pavie, the Deuxième Vin of Château Pavie, is a blend of 66% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon cropped at 42 hectoliters per hectare and matured in 50% new oak. It has a powerful and voluminous bouquet with sweet ripe black cherries, blueberry and a dash of black pepper. The palate is full-bodied with a firm grip in the mouth, a powerful and demonstrative Arômes de Pavie that just needs a little less new oak on the finish. I appreciate the weight and concentration here... it just needs to muster a little more refinement.
matthewjukes.com 17 / 20 par Matthew Jukes le 25/04/2017 (66 Merlot, 21 Cabernet Franc, 13 Cabernet Sauvignon) | 50% new oak | 14.1% alc. This wine hits the post with its fabulously exotic, spicy, blueberry and mulberry fruit and this experience is stunning. However, in a moment it all changes and the tannins crash in and bury the fruit. It was so close to being a good wine, but now it is yet another oak frenzy. Will it soften? I really do hope so. 17++?
Wine Enthusiast 91-93 / 100 par Roger Voss le 19/04/2017 Barrel Sample. Gerard Perse's second wine of Château Pavie is a good indicator of the vintage. This dense wine boasts dark tannins and concentration. It has the ripeness of the vintage while at the same time serious tannins.
Wine Spectator 89-92 / 100 par James Molesworth le 10/04/2017 This gushes with boysenberry and blueberry preserve flavors, inlaid with sweet spice and toast accents and backed by a hint of ganache. Offers lots of fruit, but this is ultimately open-knit. For the hedonist crowd.—J.M.
Jamessuckling.com 93-94 / 100 par James Suckling le 05/04/2017 A fresh and vibrant second wine of Pavie with ultra-fine tannins and a pretty finish. Lovely length. Lively.
