HOW ALL STARTED ... The history of Diplomático begins in Venezuela in 1959, with the creation of the distillery. At that time, it belonged to Licorerías Unidas S.A (LUSA), and Seagram's International, one of the largest wine and spirits companies in the world, was its main shareholder. In 2002, the company LUSA and all its assets are put on sale, in particular the distillery and Diplomático, a mark of quality rum marketed locally. A group of Venezuelan entrepreneurs, most of whom have a long experience in the spirits industry, see the potential of this company. They decide then to try the adventure and make an offer of redemption. In the same year, LUSA became a 100% Venezuelan private company and adopted its current name: Destilerías Unidas S. A. (DUSA). Today, DUSA is an actor of choice among the major rum producers of Venezuela and its Diplomático brand is distributed in 50 countries.
