The 2018 de Pressac is laced with inky red/purplish fruit, blood orange, mint, lavender and rose petal. Just as it was in barrel, the 2018 is quite reticent, while the finish is attenuated. I miss some of the exuberance of recent vintages. Pressac can be one of the most distinctive wines in all of Bordeaux. The 2018 is attractive, to be sure, but it doesn't hit the highs it can.

Floral and spicy, with a dash of spearmint, licorice, black cherries and smoke on the nose. The wine is elegant, fresh, medium/full-bodied, soft and silky, with an inviting finish of sweet, ripe, plums, cherry and black raspberry. One of the few Bordeaux wines using all five allowable grape varieties, blending 74% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Carmenere and 1% Malbec.

The 2018 Château de Pressac has a light, airy bouquet displaying less fruit concentration than its peers; it feels rather innocuous. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity. It’s much better than the aromatics and finishes with a pleasant tangy spiciness. Not bad, but I would drink this over the next decade.

This red packs in some solid plum and blackberry preserve flavors, as well as a graphite edge for spine and really solid dark tobacco and anise notes buried through the finish, where smoldering herb and warm earth hints add a nice touch. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Malbec. Drink now through 2028. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 8,500 cases made, 400 cases imported. –JM

Dried currants, blueberries, lavender, walnuts and sweet tobacco on the nose. It’s medium-to-full bodied with firm, silky tannins. Crushed stone, too. Elegant and flavorful. Try from 2024.

The 2018 de Pressac does not really engage on the nose - static dark berry fruit, melted tar and earthy notes that are missing some vivacity. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, better balanced than the aromatics augur with a finely proportioned finish. I just wish the nose delivered.

Il se présente comme un vin complet, au caractère très suave, à la trame très fine, avce un beau développement. La finale, légèrement poivrée ne manque pas de caractère.

Medium/full-bodied, you'll find, smoke, licorice, espresso and plum in the nose. The wine is elegant, energetic, soft and polished with sweet, red fruits and silky textures. One of the few Bordeaux wines to use all five allowable grape varieties, the wine blends, 74% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Carmenere and 1% Malbec.

A layered and juicy red with dark berries, chocolate, and spice. Hints of hazelnuts. Medium body. Delicious finish.
