Mercurey - Antonin Rodet - Burgundy 2013
Located north of the Châlonnais coast, the village of Mercurey offers a great diversity of terroirs, the majority of which produces red wines. 2013 is registered in Burgundy as the fourth low yield vintage in Burgundy. Its modest climate balance is not legendary. Winter and spring were cold, cool, long and wet. On the whole the months of July and August were hot and dry but the vegetative growth retardation of spring was not caught up. The month of September was not very generous. The sun was discreet and the rains were regular which did not help the matures to be made. On these late vintages, the precocity of the Côte chalonnaise plays in its favor. The judicious choice of the date of grape harvest, sorting in the vineyard and reception as well as an adjusted vinification will make the difference.
