Mackmyra Bruks - The Swedish Whiskey 41.4 °
The story began with a simple question asked at a party with friends "Why is there no whiskey distillery in Sweden? ". No one could answer this question, letting it float in the air. Sweden does not traditionally manufacture whiskey. In Sweden, there is one of the purest waters in the world, filtered to perfection since the ice age. It is no coincidence that the distillery is located near a source with constant access to this crystalline water. Swedish barley develops a special sweetness during the long summer days, a sweetness that has become one of the peculiarities of this whiskey. Some of this whiskey ages in Swedish oak barrels. The Swedish oak grows gently in a harsh climate and gives this whiskey a more intense flavor than the American oak. The whiskey takes notes of hot spices counterbalanced by a sweetness approaching the caramelized sugar. Today, Mackmyra whiskey is produced with the same thirst for discovery and experimentation as in the beginning, in 1999, but in one of the most modern distilleries in the world. If Mackmyra has multiplied special editions in the last five years, in the spring of 2012, it launches its first permanent bottling, called Bruks Whiskey.
