Aromas of plums and stones with hints of flowers. Medium body, juicy tannins and a savory aftertaste. Plenty of chocolate and berry character. Polished and sexy. Drink or hold.

The 2014 Clos La Madeleine is a bold, racy wine. Ripe red cherry, smoke, tobacco, torrefaction and French oak notes are all pushed forward. Although not especially complex, the 2014 is very nicely done. Drink this juicy Saint-Émilion over the next few years.

Belle tension fine et délicate. Le vin a de la race et une finale crayeuse superbe.

The 2014 Clos La Madeleine is an attractive if somewhat straightforward offering laced with dark red and purplish-hued fruit. Definition and intensity are missing in a wine that nevertheless offers solid potential, if not a ton of character. The blend is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Hubert de Boüard is the consulting winemaker.

The Clos la Madeleine 2014 has a plush bouquet with ripe, candied black fruit mixed with violets and a dab of dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and acidity. Plenty of freshness and vitality here, although it needs just a little more persistence on the finish to complete the package. That will hopefully manifest itself during bottle age.

Juicy and ripe with velvety tannins that are well handled along with dark berry fruit with savory spices. A well-crafted and balanced wine that is ready to enjoy young, but should evolve well over the next 4 to 6 years.

Fresh and minerally on the nose. Hint of red fruit as well. Palate ripe and clean. Finely edged tannic frame. Cool, chalky finish. Drink: 2019-2030 (87)

Mid crimson. Slightly stewed fruit on the nose. ‘Bloody’ sensation (fruit and salt) and maybe just a bit simple. Certainly relatively forward but easy to like and not too tart. Drink 2019-2027
