The 2016 Clos des Jacobins has a well defined bouquet with blackberry, bilberry, pressed flowers and a touch of bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly chewy entry. This feels bold and assertive, quite dense but it needs more delineation and precision towards the finish. Not bad, but it could be better.

Le meilleur jamais fait ! Couleur sombre, intense et belle. Nez fruité, frais, mûr et moyennement aromatique. Charnu et parfumé dés l’attaque, le vin se développe corpulent, avec du goût et des tannins fins. Il s’achève loin en finale, sèveux et sans angle. Délicieux.

The 2016 Clos des Jacobins is rich, powerful and explosive. Savory herbs, graphite, smoke, leather and licorice make a strong opening statement, Powerful and deeply resonant, in the glass, the 2016 packs a serious punch. New oak is quite prominent today, but this is nevertheless an impressive effort. This is an especially rich, extracted style. Even so, all the elements are nicely balanced. Tasted two times.
