Probably a sleeper of the vintage, the medium to full-bodied, pure 2008 reveals notes of almond paste intermixed with black currants, sweet cherries, caramel and mocha as well as an attractive texture and density. Consume it over the next decade. Drink 2011-2021

Full ruby. Sexy aromas of spicy blackcurrant, espresso, licorice and toasty oak. Juicy and penetrating, with lovely floral lift and a solid spine to the dark fruit, mineral and coffee flavors. At once more intense and better balanced than the young 2007, this conveys a deceptive impression of lightness. Finishes with a menthol freshness and firm but harmonious tannins.

Recht dunkles Granat mit lila Schimmer. Tiefes Bouquet, schwarze Beeren, dunkle Edelhölzer, Black Currant. 2014 – 2032

One of the strongest efforts from this estate in many years, this dense ruby/purple-hued 2008 displays a full-bodied, masculine, structured style not dissimilar to that of Trotanoy (one of the vintage’s stars). Pure black currant and black cherry fruit are accompanied by underlying notions of minerals, roasted herbs, caramel, and plums. This layered, concentrated, full-bodied wine requires 5-6 years of bottle age, and should last for two decades. 90-92+

This Latour-a-Pomerol has a rich, decadent nose with ripe red cherries, kirsch, blueberry and a touch of scorched earth. It takes time to unfold, that initial opulence receding with further aeration. The palate is full-bodied with chewy tannins, an arching structure, great depth and persistency. Backward, surly, obdurate, this is a Latour-à-Pomerol with longevity in mind. Hopefully this will blossom after bottling. Tasted April 2009. 90-92+

Looks big and beefy. So concentrated it does not have much nose. Very youthful, almost austere. Extremely dry. But very intense too. A very long distance runner. A J P Moueix wine. Drink 2020-35

Ripe, expressive nose with dark cherry and cassis notes. Good weight and density, firm structure. Has the richness of a good Pomerol. Drink 2014-2025.

Some cooked fruit, with brown sugar and candy. Medium to full-bodied, with soft tannins and a medium finish.
