This reliable and over-achieving cru bourgeois from visionary Bernard Magrez is an excellent blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine, aged 16 months in Bordeaux barrels, has a dense ruby/purple color and a classic Médoc profile of cedar wood, blackcurrants, underbrush and forest floor. It is medium-bodied and concentrated, with soft tannins. Drink it over the next 5-8 years.

Soft and silky with fine tannins, fresh fruit and a currant-and-berry aftertaste. Medium body, integrated tannins and a crisp finish. Very pretty. Drink or hold.

Cropped at 46hl/ha, the 2012 is a blend of 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc. It has a dark plum and mulberry scented bouquet with fine definition – nicely integrated oak (25%) – a little Malbec like in some ways. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy black fruit and that Malbec element comes through here again with lifted dark berries infused with a touch of bell pepper. Good potential. It is brutish but charming. Tasted twice with consistent notes. Tasted April 2013.

The 2012 offers a dark plum/purple color along with a bouquet of camphor, creosote, forest floor, underbrush and plenty of red as well as black currants. Medium-bodied with a good mid-palate, it should be consumed over the next 7-8 years. Another very good effort from this over-performing estate owned by Bernard Magrez, this blend of 70% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc comes from a vineyard adjacent to the northern Medoc village of St.-Christoly.Drink: 2013 - 2021
