Chateau Fonroque Grand Cru Classé - Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2011
Château Fonroque is the Saint-Emilion cradle of the Moueix family, acquired in 1931 by Jean and Adèle, great grandparents of Alain Moueix, who exploited this pretty wine property. The decades that follow seal the attachment of Jean and Adele Moueix, then of their eldest son Jean-Antoine, to the land of Fonroque. In the oldest archives, Fonroque has always been a viticultural farm. At the death of Jean-Antoine, in 1979, the management of the estate was entrusted to the Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix (trading house Libourne and family). The vineyard is then maintained on the basis of a regular replanting program with drainage. The use of the practice of thinning grapes, especially in young vines is systematically applied. In the vat room, the introduction of meticulous management of drums and the rigor of the assemblages constitute important qualitative contributions. A substantial financial investment will be made in 1993, when a second barrel winery, a bottling room and a tasting room will be set up. Vinification, based on a vineyard management that takes into account the fundamental balances, gives rise to quality wines. Alain Moueix is ??entrusted with the management of the family property in 2001. Each generation brings its imprint, this one will not deviate from the tradition.
