Page 287

(merlot with 14% cabernet franc and 9% cabernet sauvignon) Bright red-ruby. Smoky redcurrant, plum and tobacco leaf on the expressive nose and palate. Pliant, supple and inviting, with a fine-grained texture to the flavors of dark plum, iron, coffee and tobacco leaf. Slightly herbal but nicely ripe and flavorful St. Emilion, finishing with good breadth and a lingering suggestion of roasted earth.

This light, soft, round, dark ruby-hued 2007 is pleasant, but somewhat monolithic, with a short finish. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.... Drink 2010-2014

Blackberry and mineral aromas follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and a fruity finish. A little lean, but balanced and attractive. Best from 2011 through 2013.

(77% merlot, 14% cabernet sauvignon and 9% cabernet franc) Bright ruby-red. Sweet nose hints at chocolate and minerals. Lush, ripe and sweet, with an essential softness to the black cherry flavor. The tannins are rather supple, suggesting that this wine will give almost immediate pleasure. Very sweet and easygoing for the year. The cabernets here were harvested between October 13 and 18!

The nose has good definition and avoids any over-extraction. Blackberries, cherries and wild strawberry – nice lift. The palate is well-defined, focused and elegant with good acidity. Fresh and vibrant with a floral, cherry infused finish. I like! Tasted April 2008.

Black colour! Intense black cherry aromas (most unusual and not very 2007). Very rich and round start to the palate. Awfully black and tarry and dry on the end. As though the fruit has been boiled out. Impressive from the point of view of mass but not a pleasure. Like sucking a bit of tarmacadam. No juice or flesh.

Really short, but some clean fruit and mineral character. Simple. —J.S.
