The 2013 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild, a blend of 20% Merlot and 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, has a simple bouquet for Duhart, though one that is not unpleasurable with muted scents of red plum and boysenberry fruit. Perhaps what the challenging growing season did was denude this Pauillac of terroir expression since I found little of that trademark pencil lead aroma. The palate is medium-bodied and quite rounded in the mouth, slightly lower in acidity than I was expecting, but cohesive with black fruit tinged with cedar and leather. It is a forward Duhart-Milon with moderate depth but decent length. It might be the earliest drinking and most approachable Duhart that I have encountered, but it still has drinking pleasure to offer.

Very attractive aromas of blueberry, lavender and stone. Full body, chewy and tannic. It shows a serious depth of fruit for the vintage. Give it two or three years to soften.

This charming blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot reveals plenty of red and black currant fruit, a clean, pure mouthfeel, modest body and undeniable finesse as well as elegance. Enjoy it over the next 7-8 years.

Red-ruby.  Aromas of raspberry, minerals and violet.  Clean and silky but penetrating, with slightly austere flavors of dark berries and minerals.  Juicy, firmly built and nicely delineated, in Duhart's not particularly sweet style.  Finishes with dusty, firm tannins, good persistence and a flinty nuance.

(80 Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 Merlot) Quite sour, hard and compact but it seems balanced. The whole package is lighter than expected but there is harmony here and the tannins are fit and refreshing. Good, classy, red fruit finish. The wine fades from black to red gently.

The 2013 Duhart-Milon impresses for its energy, cut and focus. Freshly cut flowers, smoke, graphite, melted road tar and smoke all take shape in the glass. The 2013 is smoky, gamy and rich, with good depth and intensity for the vintage, all supported by firm, incisive tannins. The harvest took place from October 1 to 14. The blend is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Tasted twice.

Puissant arôme complexe (un peu de moka, beaucoup de cèdre et graphite, une touche de pruneau), aucune verdeur, plein, enveloppé, léger manque de fondu dans le tannin, pour le moment.

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, the Duhart Milon was picked from 1 October until 14 October. It has a typical Duhart with that Havana cigar wafting from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with strict and linear tannins matched by well-judged acidity. This is a straight down the line classic, less demonstrative Duhart with a lovely tobacco infused finish. Drink over the next 15 years.

Deep colour, fine cassis nose, palate reserved at first and then opens with  ripeness and length, a combination of firmness and charm.

A beautiful wine with plum, berry and Spanish cedar. Some chocolate, too. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Fine tannin texture.

This is a dark and spicy wine with ripe black currant and intense oak tones.  The end has a bitter licorice taste that needs to integrate.

Offers a sappy core of kirsch and blackberry fruit, harnessed by a sanguine edge that holds the finish. A light cedary note provides the backdrop. A touch austere in the end. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Tasted non-blind. —J.M.
