Medium red-ruby. Redcurrant, smoke, pepper and tobacco leaf on the nose, with a hint of floral lift and a rustic leathery nuance. Quite dry, even austere, in the middle, with peppery acidity currently keeping the red fruit and smoke flavors under wraps. The slightly dry finish features a green edge. Seems distinctly clenched today; will this wine blossom with bottle aging? (87(+?) points)

Milk chocolate aromas, with hints of nut and fruit, lead to a medium body, with good fruit and a silky finish. This lacks some fruit midpalate, but its pretty and delicious. A little chewy. Best after 2012.

(a 76/24 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot) Good bright, deep ruby-red. Complex aromas of blackcurrant, chocolate, smoke, leather and flowers. Sweet, lush and ripe, with a rather soft texture to the flavors of chocolate, mocha, brown spices, menthol and black olive. In spite of its noteworthy breadth, this conveys a rather high-pH mouth feel and good rather than outstanding intensity. Finishes with good length and rather soft tannins.

Dégusté au château. Beau vin généreux, complexe et fin, doté d’une texture plus “naturelle” que celle de Cos d’Estournel, tannin noble, bien marqué par de superbes cabernet-sauvignon.

Bright crimson but not blackish purple exaggeration. Sweet start, some gentle fully ripe fruit. Very searing St-Estèphe tannins on the finish but there is definitely juice and flesh here. Neat, dry finish. Very competent. An attempt at gentle texture without sacrificing anything to too much technique.
