The 2020 Carlmagnus opens with striking aromatic presence. Dark cherry fruit, mocha, rose petal and lavender all develop with a bit of air. Slightly vegetal notes and hard tannins that attenuate the finish keep me from being more positive.

Non content d’être un bon vigneron, Arnaud Roux-Oulié est un artiste peintre de talent qui façonne ses propres étiquettes. Le merlot triomphe dans ce joli vin sapide, et répercute ses douces saveurs de fruits rouges et noirs mûrs à point, exaltées par une légère amertume, des tannins nobles, et une finale salivante à l’infini.

The 2020 Carlmagnus has a ripe, quite perfumed nose of black cherries, boysenberry and blood orange scents, becoming quite citric with aeration; nice control here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and notes of tobacco and tar. One of the most tertiary-inspired Fronsac wines. The finish is fresh but slightly short.

In this deep in color wine you find menthol, chocolate mint, licorice, oak and red pit fruits. Medium-bodied, soft, fresh and fruity, this is already charming to drink due to all its sweet fruit and freshness. 89-91

The 2020 Carlmagnus has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and vivacious scents of redcurrant jelly, ripe black plums and boysenberries, plus hints of iron ore, black truffles, lavender and cracked black pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate fills the mouth with intense red and black fruit layers, supported by ripe, rounded tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and earthy.
