The Château Cap St George 2014, from the stable of Jean-Philippe Janoueix, has a clean and precise nose, almost understated at first, but gaining fruit intensity with aeration: cranberry and wild strawberry, just a touch of vanilla. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh acidity, playful and bright red berry fruit with a poised, classically inspired finish. This was the penultimate wine out of around 700 that I tasted during en primeur, and it was a delightful discovery.
