Nez très racé, sur le zan, les fruits noirs, avec des notes florales. Entrée en bouche d’une grande élégance. Extraordinaire finesse d’approche avec une évolution sur une trame très fine. Le tanin est d’un merveilleux raffinement. Grande pureté d’expression et équilibre millimétrique.

Prepare yourself for a lush mélange of the darkest of dark fruits mingled with truffle, espresso, earth, plum and floral aromas, which pop with little effort. This wine is fertile, deep and concentrated. The character is focused, talkative, lively and laden with sensuality and tannins that feel like spun silk. On the palate, the fruits move from black to red to black again. There is length, volume, intensity and lavishness and the fresh, spicy fruits stay with you from start to finish. Blending 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc, the wine reached 14.7% alcohol with a pH of 3.68 and will be aged in 70% new, French, oak barrels. The harvest took place between September 21 and September 25. 97 - 99 Pts

Denis Durantou's 2015 L'Eglise-Clinet is magnificent. A wine that has it all, the 2015 is vertical, dense and also remarkably translucent, all at the same time. The purity, freshness and energy of the 2015 is remarkable and yet the wine has immense depth. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2015 carries considerable tannic heft. In 2015 L'Eglise-Clinet is a wine of stature and true pedigree. The 2015 is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc brought in between September 21 and 25. Don't miss it.

Quite soft. Perfumed - floral and possibly violet. Easy and friendly. Quite gentle tannins. Very sweet and round. 14.6% alcohol is not evident. An unexpectedly mild, well-mannered wine. Undramatic. Looks almost modest at this point. Drink 2023-2035 17+

Couleur pourpre, sombre, intense et belle. Nez fin, fruité, mûr et subtil. Bouche délicate, suave, particulièrement fruitée, juteuse, au toucher noble, avec beaucoup de raffinement tactile. C'est simplement délicieux et totalement incrachable. Du grand vin fin. Assemblage: 90% merlot et 10% cabernet franc.

90 % Merlot, 10 % Cabernet Franc. 41 hl/ha. Der Zweitwein (La Petite Eglise) war noch nie so gut. Fast hätte ich die Degustationsration geschluckt. Das könnte also bereits eine Kaufempfehlung sein. Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Das Bouquet ist präzise und zeigt viel tiefgründige Noten, die Frucht ist geprägt von vielen, kleinen, reifen Beeren, auch kandierte Cakesfrüchte findet man und Spuren von Zitronenthymian und einem Hauch von Zitronenthymian und Minze. Im Gaumen fest, verlangend, eine deutliche Adstringenz liefernd, die Tannine sind momentan so stark, dass diese den wohl reichen Körper dominieren, die Frucht wirkt extrem reif und im zweiten Nachhall findet man die berühmten Himbeerenkernen welche jeweils einen ganz grossen Jahrgang dokumentieren. Doch diese Grösse hat auch seinen Preis. Der Wein wird nur ganz langsam altern. Und wenn man den vielleicht vergleichbaren Jahrgang 1998 in Betracht zieht, so ist dieser nach fast zwei Dekaden immer noch weit entfernt in seiner ersten Reife. Also kann man die erste Reife hier so in 25 Jahren erwarten. Also ist dieser barocke, mächtige 2015er Eglise-Clinet absolut nichts für Ungeduldige. 19/20 2035 – 2060

Very restrained and graceful now, this has serious cut and persistence to the blood orange, bitter cherry and plum fruit flavors. Shows a minerally edge through the finish, with ample flesh that should expand a bit more with the élevage. Fresh and long.—J.M.

The 2015 L'Eglise-Clinet is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, picked between 21-25 September at 41 hl/ha and matured in 70% new oak. Denis Durantou poured two samples for me. First from Darnajou barrel. Here, a very composed, effortless bouquet with extremely pure raspberry coulis, strawberry, almost confit-like scents that display ethereal delineation. This is not a powerful or intense bouquet, rather one that is sophisticated and refined, bunches of violet emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, crisp acidity, mineral-rich and tensile. There is tangible energy and refinement on the finish that lingers long and tenderly in the mouth, a wine constantly having something more to say. The second came from Demptos barrel. This was deeper on the nose, showing a touch more fruit, slightly higher toned. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, structured in the mouth, perhaps the barrel impressing its character more on the wine than the Darnajou. Together, they should combine to create a quite magical 2015 L'Eglise-Clinet. Drink 2022-2045
