The Secrets "Bois de Tourtourel" - Chateau de Lascaux - Pic Saint Loup 2008
Located in the town of Corconne, the "Bois de Tourtourel" is remarkable for its very originality. This vineyard is characterized by several unique elements. It is an accumulation of limestone fragments, due to the fragmentation of the limestones by the water which freezes in their fractures ("gelification"), and then spread out in large cones of dejection by torrents, one of the last cold periods of the quaternary era. These fragments are associated with silts colored red by iron oxides. They are today a very homogeneous wine soil over several meters of thickness (5 m). This soil is very filtering and allows a deep infiltration of the water which will give a regular water supply to the vine during the long summer period. A particularly favorable exhibition: this terroir is located in lower part of the Massif de la Forêt-de-Coutach, the relief of which protects it from the winds of the north. It is exposed south, south-east: it enjoys a warm microclimate. The vineyard is located at an altitude to 150 meters on a gentle slope.
