The 2014 Pierre 1er (formerly La Croix Figeac) is plump, delicious and forward. Dark cherries, plums, iron smoke, new leather and cloves jump from the glass in a ripe, juicy St. Emilion endowed with notable near and medium term appeal. Although not especially complex, the 2014 quite open and tasty. Best of all, it should be a terrific value.

The Château Pierre 1er has an attractive blackcurrant bouquet that is deftly integrated with the oak. The palate is medium bodied witih grainy tannin, a little rustic in style but in a positive way, chunky but with plenty of fruit and freshness on the finish. This should be a delight once in bottle.

Puissant, serré, fruit mûr, tannin serré avec une certaine rusticité mais aussi de la maturité, belle allonge séveuse qui témoigne de la race du terroir. Un vrai saint--émilion de garde.
