Chateau La Garde - Pessac Léognan - 2003
The 2003 harvest is the earliest ever at Château La Garde, but also the lowest (35hl / ha). The record temperatures resulted in a high level of precocity (3 to 4 weeks before veraison). The presence of clay in a large number of plots has been able to preserve the necessary moisture and to avoid the blockages of maturity and the drying of the berries, encountered on some plots of low soils. The green work has been adapted to the extreme climatic conditions to preserve a balance between the plant and the fruit. The berries, very concentrated in sugars, have rich aromas of black fruits and a beautiful material, in an equilibrium preserved by normal acidities.
