Facing the challenging 2021, Carlmagnus has presented us with a very satisfying answer sheet. The fruit aromas are clean and lively, and the acidity refreshing and pleasant. The fragrances of sour, sweet, and delicious dried plum + jujube linger in my glass, emitting a natural aura without holding back. Compared to the hot vintage, Calmagnus seems to possess softer tannins in a cool vintage. The 2021 Carlmagnus is a bold, fruity wine that will drink well right out of the gate. Inky dark fruit, lavender, sweet spice and chocolate are front and center. There is good flavor intensity, but the aromatics are a bit disjointed at this stage. Lets' see what happens.

Kräftiges Rubinrot. Die Nase ist etwas verhalten, dezent reduktiv, braucht etwas Zeit, zeigt dann Kirschen und Pflaumenaromen. Im Gaumen straff, merklich Tannin, dieses ist reif, feine Säure, im mittleren Gaumen mit einem kleinen Durchhänger und im Abgang rotfruchtig und eher kurz. (Verkostet im April 2022. Dourthe)

Toujours dans son style puissant et démonstratif, même si le bois est désormais parfaitement contenu, Carlmagnus possède un bouquet dense et épicé avec des notes de fruits noirs et de réglisse. Bouche droite et tendue, relativement massive avec une charge tannique importante.
