Prelude of Marsau - Francs Côtes de Bordeaux - 2012
In Marsau, the modest surface of the vineyard allows a meticulous work throughout the vegetative cycle, and adapted to each vine foot: rigorous size and epigraphy, optimal leaf area search, leaf thinning and early thinning, elimination of late grapes at the end of Véraison, and then harvest programmed according to the desired maturity for each plot. The vinifications are adapted to the specific nature of the vintage and each plot, vinified separately. The objective is to exploit the natural concentration of the grape to extract faithfully the personality of the soil and the grape variety. The aging in French oak barrels is done in separate batches, in order to preserve to the end the identity of each plot. At the end of this 12-month period, the assembly is finally finalized. Prelude comes from the youngest vines, always exclusively Merlot, and favors more fruit, freshness and a certain lightness.
