Penfolds BIN 28 SHIRAZ "KALIMNA" - 2013
The Bin 28 is the perfect expression of warm Australian climates. This wine is defined as a mature, robust and generously flavored wine. Created in 1959, Bin 28 is named after the famous vineyard of Kalimna in the valley of Barossa, purchased by Penfolds in 1945 and from which comes the original wine. Today, the Bin 28 is a mix of different regions and multiple vineyards that offer a good representation of the Barossa Valley. The vintage After a dry winter in southern Australia, similar to that of 2006, the vines ran out of water in early spring. And have become accustomed to dry conditions. Early bud break and windy conditions in many areas during flowering reduced yields. Hot days between October and November and early January have contributed to an early start of the 2013 harvest and a short harvest. The warm, dry conditions, coupled with below-average yields, produced fruit with structured tannins, great flavor and intensity.
