Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violetter Kern, zarter Wasserrand. In der Nase feine Herzkirschenfrucht, Nuancen von Zwetsckenröster, etwas Nougat. Am Gaumen rund und elegant, feine mineralische Nuancen, gut integrierte Tannine, geschliffener Stil, zart nach Brombeerkonfit im Nachhall.

This is a little muffled on the nose and lacking some brightness of fruit. Blackberry, a touch of mulberry and mocha. Needs more definition. There is a little under-ripeness here and this comes across on the palate that has a green edge evident on the finish. I expected a little more given the quality of some other Deuxieme Vin that overcame the limitations of the vintage. Tasted April 2008.

Second wine of Ch Montrose. Mid intensity of dark crimson with purple rim. Neat, low-key nose. Sweet, light Merlot start (32% Merlot). A light kiss rather than an embrace. Well balanced but very lightweight. Much softer, lighter tannins than usual for a St-Estèphe. Lightweight fruit. More refined than its stablemate Tronquoy-Lalande but pretty lean.
