The 2017 Chevalier de Lascombes is a very appealing and expressive second wine from Lascombes. Crème de cassis, licorice, smoke, lavender and cloves all flesh out in this fruity, succulent Margaux. There is plenty of potential, especially if the 2017 goes into bottle with this level of fruit purity.

The fruit here is not quite at full ripe expression, but it is perky and bright with some cedar and redcurrant. It feels like it needed an extra few days on the vine.
