Wet earth, berry and currant character follow through to a medium body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Needs time to soften but pretty already. Better in 2017.

Alluring black tea and sandalwood notes lead the way here, with gentle, dusty tannins carrying the subtle black cherry, red currant and damson plum fruit flavors. Everything integrates on the finish, with a dusty echo lingering. Drink now through 2020. 5,733 cases made. –JM

Dark crimson. Strong spice and savoury oak character on the nose. Dark chocolate. Savoury on the palate too, very little fruit sweetness and some charry notes on the finish. Has power but lacks charm. (JH)13.5% Drink 2020-2028

Fruits rouges, épices douces, buoche tapissée de petits tanins soyeux, un vrai style margaux, soyeux, gourmand... Des notes chocolat en finale. O= 2016 G= 8 ans.

Fairly simple Margaux with broad flavours and hint of plums and spices. Straight-forward, supple and easy to enjoy while young.

Tasted from a barrel sample at en primeur. The Siran is a blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot picked between 1 and 16 October at 44hl/ha. It has a clean, pure bouquet with macerated dark cherries, wild strawberry and a slight reductive metallic note just in the background. The palate is better than the nose at the moment. There are some supple, saturated tannins here and a keen thread of acidity, whilst the oak provides the lift on the finish. This might be one of the better Margaux wines after bottling. Good potential for a higher score down the line. Tasted April 2013. (89-91+)

A perfumy style, with black tea and spice notes up front and dark plum sauce and steeped raspberry fruit in reserve. A bright iron streak enlivens the finish. Offers good stuffing, staying elegant overall. —J.M.

Siran did not try to extract too much in 2012, and the result is a very good, soft, round, elegant, cleanly made, medium-bodied effort with attractive blue and red fruits, ripe tannin and a medium-bodied finish. Drink it over the next decade.

Sappy and appetising. Quite sweet and racy. Just a little bit forced-tasting. Quite flashy. A little greenness in the blend here.

Clean and balanced for the vintage with currant, fine tannins and a bright acidity. The tannins are a little dry but it all shows some finesse for the year.
