Aromas and flavors of cranberry, plum and flowers. Medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Drink or hold.

The 2013 LaGrange exhibits an attractive deep ruby color as well as less oak than is normally found during the first year of tasting. It offers supple tannins, excellent texture and good purity. This successful, medium-bodied 2013 should drink well for 8-10 years.

Dark red-ruby.  Highly perfumed, refined aromas of red cherry, raspberry  eau de vie, minerals and rose petal, complicated by sweet spices.  Bright and clean in the mouth, with lively acidity lifting the red fruit and spicy floral flavors at the back.  Finishes with repeating notes of juicy red berries and minerals.  Strange as it may seem in a vintage of light wines like 2013, this Lagrange seems to have a deeper nose and more density than usual.

(75 Cabernet Sauvignon, 21 Merlot, 4 Petit Verdot) 60% new oak, 13.3% alcohol. This is a feisty wine and it has a classic cassis core with a suit of oak armour (as always). Shame it cannot be more subtle in a vintage like this. The oak heavy-handedness is better but surely in 2013 it could be tempered? It’s such a shame. The fruit is accordingly pristine but a little sappy.

The 2013 Lagrange is soft, supple and built for near-term drinking. Sweet red berries, flowers and a hint of spice inform the fruity finish.

Riche couleur. Nez plein, précis, noblement expressif du cabernet sur graves dans le registre cèdre et épices. Classicisme impeccable de style, les vignes du grand terroir ont désormais l’âge de l’exprimer dans toute sa dimension.

The Lagrange 2013 is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot picked between 30 September and 14 October with the last Petit Verdot vines (representing 40% of the total crop.) It sports considerable fruitiness on the nose with vibrant and pure red cherries, fresh strawberry and cedar that is well defined. The palate is well balanced with fine, perhaps slightly "stringy" tannins, but there is commendable precision towards the finish that deftly carries the oak. This is definitely one of the more assured Saint Julien wines of the year and should be well worth picking out if the price is right.

Light purple-red, fine fragrance of Cabernet fruit and very good clarity, has  fruit and grip for a good future.

A seamless 2013 with an outstanding core of dark fruit and a mineral character. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a fresh finish.

The wine opens with concentrated, plush fruit. Dense tannins give power to the wine, but are softened on the finish by a bright acidity.

Mehrere Male verkostet.

High-pitched, with a floral hint giving way to red currant, Campari and damson plum notes. Offers a brisk, stony finish. —J.M.
