Castle Haut Gros Caillou - Saint Emilion Grand Cru - 2014
After a promising start to the year, the sultry summer slows the beginning of maturation. The anxiety disappears at the end of August, with the arrival of an exceptional and lasting weather. The quality of this vintage owes much to the superb after-season, but it would not reach this level without the enormous work carried out in the vineyard upstream to ensure the perfect health and beauty of the fruit. Merlot and Cabernet Franc then benefit fully from the Indian summer, accumulating color, aromas and tannins throughout their maturation. The grape harvest begins, without stress, on September 30, with a cut of four days between the last Merlots and the Cabernet Franc after waiting for their optimum maturity in the greatest serenity.
