The white at this estate appears to be better than the red. The 2017 Château Couhins is all Sauvignon and offers a brilliant bouquet of white peach, tart pineapple, toast, and ample minerality. Fresh, focused, and lengthy on the palate, it’s a beautiful wine.

The 2017 Couhins Blanc, 98% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Sauvignon Gris, is bright, persistent and wonderfully deep, as so many wines are in this vintage. Above all else, aromatics and flavor make the Couhins Blanc very distinctive. There is a lot to like here.

The Couhins 2017 Blanc has a very zesty nose of lemon peel and yuzu zest with touches of lime leaves, apples and green mango. The palate is medium-bodied with a very racy line of acid and loads of citrus intensity in the mouth, finishing long and minerally.

Full of flavour and grip, this has a lovely expressive nature, although it majors heavily on the grassy, passion fruit side of Sauvignon. A wine with bite and grip, this is full of pleasure for medium term drinking; another success for the whites in 2017.
