Full red-ruby.  Rich aromas of plum, raspberry, mocha and chocolate are energized by minerals and peppery spices.  A saline, suave, youthfully restrained midweight, with terrific floral cabernet franc lift contributing to the impression of class and focus.  Sweetness is leavened by a savory quality and hints of tobacco and underbrush.  Tannins are suave but this firmly structured, subtly long Pomerol really needs eight or ten years to express itself fully.  Great potential here. 93(+?) points

Features substantial but very velvety structure running from start to finish, delivering a muscular feel for now. The hard edges are fully absorbed by the core of plum sauce, steeped blackberry and warm boysenberry reduction notes. The finish offers gorgeous tobacco and ganache accents lurking in the wings, along with flickers of anise and incense that should guide this version to increased elegance with age. Best from 2016 through 2034. –JM

A brilliant effort from this property, known for the sheer elegance and finesse of its wines, the 2010 La Conseillante offers back-to-back monumental efforts, particularly given the remarkable 2009. This estate has been on a hot streak of late. The 2010 is a slightly bigger, richer wine, but without losing its floral, elegant mulberry, black raspberry and sweet kirsch notes. Combine those with some licorice, subtle new oak and a hint of forest floor, and the result is a medium to full-bodied, rich, complex wine that has striking aromatics and perfect balance in the mouth. Forget it for 3-5 years and drink it over the following 30.

Tasted at the Union de Grand Cru in London. This could be the finest La Conseillante in many years and dares surpass the 2009. The nose on the La Conseillante is a real temptress, unfurling beautifully in the glass with copious blackberry, raspberry, sage, mineral and light violet scents that demonstrate exquisite delineation. The palate is silky smooth with perfectly judged acidity. There is a kind of...serenity about this La Conseillante, something effortless that truly great wines have. It just knows that it is one of the finest wines in recent years. This is a brilliant wine from Jean-Michel Laporte – a benchmark for one of Pomerol’s oldest tenants. Tasted November 2012.

Beautiful nose with cocoa powder, exotic flowers, candied violets and loads of dark berries. Great aromatic complexity. Amazing texture on palate with a superb precision and silky tannins. So beautifully composed showing already great harmony. Difficult to wait! Better in 2018

2010: A monumental La Conseillante, the 2010 completes a remarkable decade for this estate. Quintessentially floral, this dense purple-colored effort reveals sweet flowery black raspberry and blueberry liqueur notes, more power, muscle and concentration than most vintages and exquisite elegance, purity and personality. Serious tannin lurks beneath the surface, but the overall impression is of a medium to full-bodied, strikingly deep, beautifully pure, well-balanced wine. Give it 3-5 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 25-30+. Drink 2014-2044

The 2010 La Conseillante, with its aromas of plums, cassis, blackberries, and cedar, and lovely freshness and nice depth of flavours, is made in a very rich and densely-packed style. The result is a complete, gorgeous wine with balance, refreshing acidity and wonderful length that will need at least 8-10 years of bottle age before it really starts to express itself.

Superbe.

Slightly more assertive than the '09 but very fine. Deep colour. Lovely density of fruit - blackcurrant note on the nose. Has volume on the palate but freshness as well. Good line and length. Violet, liquorish notes on the finish. Firm, grainy tannins. Drink 2020-2045. (18.5 points)

Brillamment construit sur l’éclat arômatique et la fraîcheur : un conseillante d’un grand dynamisme de constitution, svelte et élancé, au fruit pur et intense.

The nose is exuberant, with pure violets and berries. Insane. This is so straight and racy, with super fine tannins and a long, long finish. There is a minimalist clarity to the wine. Superb.

Shows impressive power and purity, with waves of blueberry, fig and spice notes backed by black tea and graphite. Velvety and very long, this has some power in reserve, but it's really silky. A beauty. —J.M.

La Conseillante Produced from an assemblage of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, (which is the same as the vineyard plantings,) the wine is slightly higher in alcohol than what they achieved in 2009 at 14.5% . Due to the high levels of acidity from 3.69 pH, there is no sensation of heat. Floral, chocolate, truffle and black raspberry liqueur aromas exude from the glass. Dark and powerful, a unique character for La Conseillante, the wine is rich, intens and filled with plum liqueur, chocolate and black cherry. The wine combines freshness, silky textures and a sense of refined elegance, with the volume turned up. Jean- Michel Laporte feels 2010 is in the same style as 2005. 95-96 Pts

Dark crimson. Racy, lifted nose, verging on tea and treacle, but on the palate there seems no excess of acidity. Solid 21st-century thick right-bank Merlot. Solid and complete with real density. Actually on the finish it does seem to be built for the long term. Just a little astringent on the very end, but overall pretty satiny. Drink 2018-2030

The tannins are huge, very dense, packing through the ripe fruit. At first it tastes like a mouthful of wood and fruit tannins, then the potential of the fruit becomes apparent. That gives a wine with a great, final acidity and finish. -R.V.
