Philippe Dhalluin remarked that the 2015 Aile d’Argent Blanc is the best that he has ever produced (including the 2016). Lucid and silvery in color, it has a complex bouquet with scents of yellow flower, beeswax, lemon curd and minerals, indeed one of the most engaging that I can remember in recent years. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, its fatness lent by the Sémillon. There is an intriguing Muscat-like character here with a long, slightly nutty finish that is curiously like a Meursault. It is a lot of things...including delicious. Anticipated maturity: 2018 - 2028.

The 2015 Le Petit-Mouton is a wine of nobility and pedigree. Sumptuous and generous on the palate, with gorgeous aromatic intensity, the 2015 has so much to offer. In this vintage, Petit is exceptionally refined and nuanced in every way. Time in the glass brings out the wine's more floral and red-toned side. Silky, ripe tannins add to the wine's total allure.

This second label of Mouton Rothschild is composed of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, representing approximately 25% of the crop. Medium-deep garnet purple colored, the 2015 Le Petit Mouton opens with ripe, seductive cassis, crushed blackberries and black forest cake notes giving way to hints of menthol, new leather, chargrill and bouquet garni. Medium to full-bodied with a bright, racy line of refreshing acidity cutting through the generous flavors, it has a solid frame of grainy tannins and a vibrant finish. Very impressive.

Ripe and fresh, with a well-endowed core of cassis, cherry preserve and raspberry paste flavors, moving through steadily and picking up anise, roasted apple wood and bright iron accents along the way. Best from 2020 through 2030.   –JM

Extremely perfumed with dried flowers and dark berries such as plums and cherries. Sandalwood, too. Full body, integrated tannins and chocolate, walnut and cedar character. Goes on for minutes. Superb second wine of Mouton. Drink in 2022.

This is the second wine with the most distinctive personality in the world, in my opinion. You smell and you smile. High Cabernet Sauvignon marks the aromatic and flavour profile, but this is a wine that always manages to make Cabernet show its sexy side. 50% new oak is showing just a touch more than usual perhaps, but it's a very, very enjoyable wine that manages to be enticing and fleshy yet fresh. 4% press wine.

The winner of the second wines in 2015 is unquestionably the 2015 Le Petit Mouton De Mouton Rothschild, which is a Cabernet Sauvignon dominated blend that includes 17% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Ripe, full-bodied, opulent and incredibly satisfying, with loads of crème de cassis, graphite, lead pencil and hints of tobacco, it has more depth and texture than most estate’s top wine.

Belle couleur sombre.

Very spicy with fresh flowers, caramel, smoke, tobacco and blackberries in the bouquet, this wine is smooth, fresh and vibrant with soft tannins and a lush, supple quality of fruit that is enjoyed in the finish. With a high percentage of Merlot in the blend, this wine was made using 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc and reached 13.3% alcohol.

The 2015 Le Petit Mouton is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, matured in 40% new oak and the remainder one-year-old. It has a very intense bouquet for this deuxième vin, a far cry from the rustic wines produced in the 1990s. It is almost opaque, a wall of blackberry, cassis and tobacco aromas, perhaps the most powerful that I have ever tasted under this label. Over ten minutes, I noticed it become more sensual and rounded. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, like the aromatics, incredibly powerful and assertive. Wonderful delineation here, very mineral-driven with a bravura of a finish. It begged the question...is this really a second wine? Maybe they should rename it "Le Grand Mouton"? It is amazing to think how humdrum vintages of this were in the 1990s. This is a completely different wine to those.

The 2015 Le Petit Mouton opens with striking, expressive aromatics. Graphite, smoke, charcoal and blackberry jam are fused together in a deep, beautifully layered Pauillac. The 2015 is impressive from start to finish. This is an especially strong Petit Mouton endowed with real class. Tasted two times.

Bright, broad cassis fruit and all the exuberance typical of Mouton, but more grip than in the past thanks to the new cellar. No hint here of this being a second wine. 2020-2030

78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc. 29% of the crop. Lively aromatic wine. Pretty sinewy and vigorous with real ripe fruit but overall dry on the end. A little austere at this point. But in the middle there is palate weight. Drink 2024-2036.

Barrel Sample. An immediately accessible, juicy wine delivers fine black currant flavors and attractive acidity. It is bright and fresh, with a texture that is crisp and bright.

17/20 2024 – 2039

Very rich and chewy and polished. The soft and silky tannins coat your mouth. Full and savory. Excellent.
