Dark cherry, tobacco, leather, spice and sweet French oak are pushed forward in the 2014 Girolate. This ripe, racy Bordeaux will be most appreciated by those who enjoy the riper, more flamboyant side of Bordeaux. Tasted two times.

Juicy and ripe to the core, the 2014 Girolate offers up a compelling range of jammy fruit to match its forward personality. Blueberry preserves, crème de cassis and spice add resonance to the long, juicy finish. I expect the 2014 will drink well with minimal cellaring.

The Girolate 2014 has a slightly musky, potpourri-scented bouquet with plenty of fruit, if not quite the complexity of previous vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannin, tobacco-drenched fruit and a rather austere finish. It feels a little brutish at the moment, although I wager that the edges will be abraded by barrel age.

Very dark crimson. Very intense and sweet. You would be amazed by this if all you knew were that it was AC Bordeaux! It smells rather of really luscious Cabernet Franc to me. Lovely already with well-managed tannins lurking underneath a very winning spread of ripe fruit. Were the vines manicured? Drink 2018-2026

Polished well-crafted wine with elevated, round tannins with layers of dark berries, tobacco and plum. A great wine from Girolate that is not cheap but justifies its price.
