The 2015 Lilian Ladouys replicated its performance from last year when I tasted it at the Cru Bourgeois tasting. It maintains those redcurrant and cranberry scents on the nose, with that Burgundian tincture. The palate is medium-bodied and sappy, although the structure on the finish suggests that it will require 3 to 5 years of bottle maturation. Tasted September 2017. Anticipated maturity: 2020 - 2035.

The 2015 Lilian Ladouys comes across as a bit light. There is good purity to the fruit and aromatics, but less depth than I had expected or hoped to see at the end of aging. Drink this fragrant, light-bodied Saint Estèphe over the next few years. The blend is 56% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot.

The 2015 Lilian Ladouys is a blend of 62% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc aged in 30% new, 30% one-year-old and 40% two-year-old oak barrels for 15 months. Deep garnet-purple colored, it has an earthy/meaty nose with damp soil and dried herbs notes over a core of stewed red plums and cherry cordial. The medium-bodied palate is fine and fresh but just a little lean and short.

On the softer side and relatively open-knit, with a mix of blood orange, red currant and bitter cherry fruit gilded with hints of lilac and tea. A little shy on stuffing through the finish, but offering charming fruit. Best from 2020 through 2028. 25,000 cases made.  –JM

This a very linear and refined red with currant and lemon aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a bright finish. Shows focus and beauty. Elegant and long. Drink in 2020.

A blend of 62% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Château Lilian Ladouys is a serious Saint-Estèphe that shines in a vintage which was more difficult for the northern portions of the Médoc. Possessing medium-bodied notes of currants, dried herbs, spice and hints of background oak, it’s nicely balanced on the palate, has fine, ripe tannin, moderate density, and an undeniable charm that will keep it drinking nicely for 15 years or more.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Lilian Ladouys offers ripe redcurrant and cranberry scents on the nose, the oak nicely integrated with floral, almost Burgundian scents emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite saline in the mouth with good structure on the finish that might well be closing up for a short period. Cellar this for three to five years and you will have a solid Lilian Ladouys on your hands. Tasted September 2017.

Nez fruité, assez linéaire. Très jolie bouche en revanche, équilibrée, avec un tanin fruité très savoureux. Finale d’une belle tenue.

Cassis, cranberry and spice, medium-bodied and soft on the palate, this wine is fresh, bright and crisp.

The 2015 Château Lilian Ladouys is a blend of 62% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. It has a broody, earthy, very Saint Estèphe bouquet that was showing a great deal of new oak when I tasted it. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannin on the entry, quite masculine and foursquare, plenty of fruit with strong tobacco notes coming through on the finish. If I am being honest, I was just hoping for a little more from this ever-improving Cru Bourgeois under the guiding hand of Emmanuel Cruse, though I feel that it is just slightly compromised by the September storm clouds.

The 2015 Lilian Ladouys offers terrific depth and nuance within the context of the vintage. Sweet herbs, tobacco, mint, licorice and black cherry notes abound. Overall, the 2015 is a bit rustic, but pleasingly so. This is a very solid effort for the year. In 2015, the blend is 56% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot.

Bordeaux 2015 - St-Estèphe | Articles | JancisRobinson.com 64% Merlot - most unusual in this commune. Thanks to recently exchanged parcels. Very lifted nose. And then a little austere on the palate. The fruit weight is a bit lacking. Did the rain dilute this? Drink 2021-2028

Barrel Sample. Dry and firm, this is a structured wine. It has hints of dark chocolate with seriously dry tannins. The acidity at the end hints at fruitiness in the future. 90 points

Dunkles Granat, recht satt in der Mitte, rubiner Rand. Vielschichtiges Bouquet, rote Früchte, Rosenpfeffer, Zedernholz, faszinierender Ansatz. Potentialwertung: 17/20 2022 – 2044

A bright, high-pitched style, with blood orange and red currant fruit inlaid with a singed balsam note. Stays a bit taut but shows length, suggesting this may fill in a bit more.—J.M.
