Wine Advocate 85 / 100 byNeal Martinthe10/28/2016 The 2014 Cambon la Pelouse is showing better on the nose in bottle than in barrel with plenty of redcurrant and blackberry fruit, a touch of espresso just in the background. The palate, however, is overoaked on the entry and although it maintains balance, it loses a little personality. There is decent weight here, but it needs more finesse and sophistication. Tasted September 2016.
Vinous 88-91 / 100 byAntonio Gallonithe5/11/2015 The 2014 Cambon La Pelouse is wonderfully generous and fleshy in the glass. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and tobacco meld together in an extroverted, powerful wine built on raciness and density. Hints of mocha and chocolate add the final shades of nuance. The 2014 is a gorgeous Cambon La Pelouse. Hubert de Boüard is the consulting winemaker. Best of all, the 2014 should be a fabulous value.
The Wine Cellar Insider 88-90 / 100 byJeff Levethe5/5/2015 Very nice for the chateau, this wine is fleshy, forward and plush with sweet, dark red fruits. 88-90 Pts
Wine Advocate 81-83 / 100 byNeal Martinthe4/30/2015 The Château Cambon la Pelouse 2014 has a strong tobacco-scented bouquet that feels a little disjointed at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with harsh tannins on the entry, gritty in the mouth with an austere and raw finish. I was expecting much more than this sample was giving. (81-83? points)
Jancis Robinson 15 / 20 byJancis Robinsonthe4/21/2015 Inexpressive nose. Very tart finish. Picked a bit early? Not much fun. Drink 2017-2021
Asian Palate 87 / 100 byJeannie Cho Lee MWthe4/20/2015 Juicy, balanced and ripe with supple tannins and sweet fruit. This modest wine packs quite a punch in terms of its lifted fruit characters and freshness. Consulted by Hubert de Bouard and made up of half Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and a little bit of Petit Verdot. Priced around 12 euros per bottle - a bargain!
Decanter.com 16,25 / 20 bySteven Spurrierthe4/17/2015 Cassis nose and ripe but firm tannins. Will show well. Drink: 2018-2024 (87)
Jamessuckling.com 89-90 / 100 byJames Sucklingthe4/10/2015 Currant, bush and berry character with a hint of dried herb. Medium body, solid core of fruit and firm tannins. Slightly hollow mid-palate.
